		The San Carlos area has been characterized for about 40 years ago like an area dedicated to the cattle industry, mainly of milk and in a smaller degree of meat. The history of the project of the Hotel Arenal Manoa goes back 42 years ago, when the Cedeño family emigrated of the San Ramon village, where they were dedicated to the elaboration of products derived from the sugar cane (Trapiche) and in a way to the milk producction, but it was not their main source of income. In 1964 this family moved from San Ramón to La Fortuna de San Carlos, a town dedicated to the cattle ranch and agriculture. Later they mainly developed milking process and soon the activity of meat production too with the purpose of taking advantage of the resources of the area.

		It is well known that the Arenal Volcano eruption in 1968, produced suddenly a change in the economic activities of the zone. With the Arenal Volcano in constant activity many people were interested to visit the zone and some people of La Fotuna began to dedicate to the tourist activity. After the years La Fortuna became in a tourist region very popular in the national and foreign backgrounds. By the height of the tourist activity in the zone, Ganadera Manoa de La Fortuna S.A., dedicated to the production of milk (associated to the company Dos Pinos) and meat, decided to take advantage of the Farm location to develop a project called: Hotel Arenal Manoa; which began its constitution in the month of February 2005.

		The main objectives of the project are: To create an environment wherein our guest can enjoy and rest totally in our facilities. To stimulate the knowledge of the daily activities of one typical Costa Rican cattle farm.
