Before the tourism boom in the area of La Fortuna de San Carlos, the principal income was the milk production. This walk goes through the main productive activities of Manoa farm; ornamental plantations, Los Palmitos trail, sheep farm, pigs and chickens, eggs production and milk production.

An excellent choice to observe the main activities of a Costa Rican Farm in a horseback riding through the pastures lands of the cattle and reaching the river Arenal, which is the main source of supply of the Arenal Lake. Our horses are very docile, even if you never has the oportunity to ride a horse, we recommend learn with us, our guide Don Julio is an employee of the farm that has a lot of experience with these animals and the trail that we are going to pass.

For those who are very interested in natural life of the rainforest, we begin the one and a half tour walk at 3:30 p.m. at the Silencio farm. Through the forest you have the possibility of spotting monkeys and a large variety of birds, including toucans. We end our walk with a refreshing beverage and a magnificent view to Arenal Volcano, where, with a bit of luck, you can see the lava of Costa Rica’s most active volcano (erupting daily since 1968).


The Arenal Volcano starts with a drive to the active north-western side of the volcano. Once there you will start on a hike through Las Coladas Trail which crosses the rain forest and goes over a large lava flow from 1992. It is possible to observe a great variety of plants, wildlife, and magnificent lava formations.


This tour starts with a visit to the Arenal Hanging Bridges for a 3 km hike. Afterwards we will go to the La Fortuna Waterfall where you can swim in an inviting pool at the base of the waterfall. Following that, enjoy lunch in La Fortuna followed by a hike in the Arenal Volcano rainforest which includes a walk to the lava view point.

Your trip begins with a 30-minute 4x4 drive into the tropical rainforest outside the town of La Fortuna, in the shadow of the Arenal Volcano. From the first waterfall we will rappel down from the top into the beautiful and pristine canyon below. We have 5 rappels, 4 of which are along side or right in waterfalls, and one dry rock face.

Beautiful world-class rafting rivers abound here in Costa Rica. You will see many birds, lots of rainforest wildlife and views of the Arenal Volcano. The Balsa River is ideal for first-time river rafters rated 2 or 3 with rolling rapids to float upon. This is an ideal half-day tour because it is close and you will not spend a lot of time traveling to and from it.

Our journey begins with a scenic drive through the Eastern portion of central Costa Rica. We will travel through the beautiful pineapple, papaya and yucca fields with Volcano Arenal set in the backdrop. Birds are most active early in the morning and become active again as the day cools into evening. Join us for one or both of these walks in the La Fortuna area or near your hotel, for an amazing display of tropical birds. You are likely to see toucans, parrots, oropendolas, colorful tanagers and parakeets


For those people that would not matter get wet and muddy, in this fascinating adventure under ground to only 45 minute from La Fortuna, we will take you through narrow passages and incredible labyrinths and chambers where we will see the famous formation of rock named "La Papaya," and other stalactites and stalagmites that they surely will astonish to everybody. Also you will see spiders and bats which are frequent in this place.

We begin the tour in Fortuna and ride in a minibus around Volcano Arenal to the Hotel “Observatory Lodge”. There we start the steep hike to the summit of “Cerro Chato”. On the way we cross a very compact first rainforest. From the summit we walk down to the green lagoon, an old volcano-crater, where we can swim, take pictures or discover the surroundings. Another short climb and we walk down through rainforest. With a bit of luck we discover birds or other wild animals.

We start on the ATV ARENAL TOURS base after a little explanation about how to drive the ATV and safety rules. We road to La Fortuna Waterfall, next after this we go to Jauri Town to watch different kinds of plantations, later we come back on the same way to visit a nice butterfly farm, we followed to La Guaria Town looking for the Arenal River, right there we have time for a little snack; with a refreshing shower finishing soon to return to the base and its respective hotel.

 


One of the horseback tours most recommended in the skirts of Arenal Volcano is by Don Tobías. This horseback ride starts from the moment that we pick you up and take you to our barn where you will take one of our horses that will take you through the skirts of Arenal Volcano crossing through the forest and rivers with amazing views. Also during your travels you will get to see birds, animals, and a great amount of vegetation from the region.

We leave at 7:00 a.m. from La Fortuna. After a typical breakfast in route to Rio Celeste, we’ll arrive at the Tenorio Volcano National Park, were we’ll begin our 7 k.m hike (approximately 4 hours) through the tropical rain forest. We’ll arrive “Los Teñíderos” of the Rio Celeste, the site where two streams of crystalline water come together and form the heavenly color blue that gives the river its name.
